8 Celebrities Who Fixed Their Skin Problems

8 Celebrities Who Fixed Their Skin Problems

Imagine you are famous and you have millions of people scrutinizing every single pore on your face. On top of that you have bad skin, acne, discoloration, scars, enlarged pores, etc., and your skin takes center stage on the big screen, or possibly worse, in high definition.

Check out this gallery of seven stars who have fixed their problem skin to reveal the flawless faces we all envy. The tricks and procedures that helped these celebs perfect their complexion are available to you as well. See what targeted treatments the best dermatologists and plastic surgeons use to fix even the worst skin problems.

Rosacea—a chronic inflammatory condition resulting in blotchiness, dryness or bumpy, rough skin—can cause redness and whiteheads just like acne. However, unlike acne there are also broken or dilated capillaries involved. If you suffer from rosacea, like Bridget Jones’ star Renée Zellweger, keep it under control with a combination of oral antibiotics and products that contain ingredients like azelaic acid and sometimes even retinoids. Lasers, like IPL, can help by reparing the deeper layers of skin and strengthening the blood vessels.

1/7 – Cameron Diaz’s skin requires diligent care because of her acneic complexion. “She’s conscious of it and goes to great measures to handle and correct it,” says her aesthetician Christopher Watt. “Uneven skin tone, sun damage and hyperpigmentation are issues that plague her complexion,” he says. “I regularly do microdermabrasion on her, with a lactic acid peel. I also put her under a blue LED light to lessen breakouts and do microcurrent work to tighten and tone.”

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive treatment that utilizes a diamond- or bristle-tip head to lightly buff the skin. It will leave the skin clearer and more even in tone after only a few treatments.

2/7 – Maria Sharapova is constantly sweating on the tennis court, which doesn’t cause acne per se, but can cause bacteria on the skin if constantly wiped with a dirty towel or sweatband. The summer heat also exacerbates the situation, causing the sebaceous glands to work overtime producing excess oil, making slickness more prevalent.

The best ingredient for fighting bacteria is benzoyl peroxide, which suffocates the bacteria so it can’t thrive. Use it either allover or as a spot-treatment. Probiotics and oxygen products work toward the same goal.

3/7- Eva Longoria, who is constantly in the spotlight, struggles with oily skin and breakouts.

To spot treat areas, topical sulfur applied to the breakout can unclog the pores and minimize the pimple-causing oil. Alternatively, pimples can be spot treated with cortisone injections—a quick way to take down inflammation and swelling in nodules and cysts in a few days. But, the injections can only be used in isolated areas and not as a regular treatment.

4/7- Even the occasional pimple can be extremely annoying, as Gwyneth Paltrow can attest. To avoid the ill effects of oily/acne-prone skin, take a cue from Gwyneth who maintains a clean, organic diet. What you put into your body has a direct effect on your complexion, so feed yourself with foods that will nourish and sustain your skin.

5/7- It looks like party-girl Kate Moss has discovered that stress, hormones, the sun and even alcohol and a lack of sleep can trigger inflammation. If your acne is resistant to conventional treatments, try a series of light-based professional treatments. Blue and red light treatments have an anti-inflammatory effect by killing bacteria in the pores and stimulating new fibroblasts to help heal the skin. Light combined with vacuum treatment, known as Isolaz, can help clear the dirt and oil in your pores to target the source of blemished skin.

6/7- Victoria Beckham suffered from some pretty bumpy skin, but lately she has been sporting a radiant complexion. Fillers, like Juvederm or Restylane, may be your best bet to treat more severe scars. “Rolling-hills scars, where the contour is a bit wavy, can easily be corrected with fillers.

7/7- Madonna isn’t suffering from acne, but age is starting to take its toll on her skin. One of the easiest ways to prevent sagging skin and fight the signs of aging is by wearing an SPF everyday. To treat skin that has already begun to droop, ask your derm or plastic surgeon about the non-invasive device Ulthera which uses high-frequency ultrasound technology to deliver energy deep down below the skin targeting the same muscle layer addressed in a facelift.

Everything you need to know about Hollywood’s hottest anti-aging secret

Everything you need to know about Hollywood’s hottest anti-aging secret

It’s hard to believe the beautiful actress railing against plastic surgery when she looks exactly like she did in that decade-old rom-com. However these age-defying celebs aren’t lying about going under the knife: They just know about Ultherapy, the only FDA-approved non-invasive treatment for lifting the skin on the neck, chin, and brow.

1. A natural process equals a natural lift.
Ultherapy uses ultrasound waves that cross deep into the tissue to denature the collagen, and therefore, stimulate new collagen growth. Essentially, the natural process pumps up the volume where you need it most.

2. It improves the skin in ways surgery can’t.
Ultherapy not only delivers a beautiful lift and boost but it really makes the skin look better than what you could get with a surgical facelift. A facelift only cuts and lifts, and doesn’t actually treat the skin like Ultherapy does.

3. Everyone can afford it.
Ultherapy is priced per pulse, which means the cost is adjusted for those who are only aiming to improve vertical lines above the lip versus someone treating their full face and neck.

4. Easy in, easy out, and not a vacation day wasted.
Two magical words: no downtime. You can have minor swelling or minor bruising, but that’s just about it.

Men Choosing Coolsculpting

Men Choosing Coolsculpting

According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, men currently account for 10% of all cosmetic treatments. Just last year, men underwent approximately one million cosmetic procedures. Of the procedures elected, most were minimally invasive or non-surgical treatments as most men report dissatisfaction with the treatment time, pain and/or recovery associated with more invasive procedures. For this reason, more and more men are turning to CoolSculpting, the newest body contouring procedure to hit the market, offering a revolutionary, non-surgical solution for reducing localized fat cells with no pain and no downtime.
The top five reasons why men are choosing CoolSculpting are as follows:

  • Non-surgical, non-invasive treatment equals no anesthesia and no pain
  • Fast treatment times
  • No recovery period
  • Effective at reducing targeted fat cells
  • Gradual onset that offers natural-looking results

Don’t Burn the Fat, Freeze It

CoolSculpting helps eliminate targeted areas of excess fat through a unique process called cryolipolysis which uses freezing temperatures to activate the body’s own natural destruction of fat cells. The procedure is pain free and no medication or anesthesia of any kind is needed. Patients are free to read, work on laptops or take a quick nap during the treatment. A gel is all that is applied to protect the skin followed by the cooling device which delivers freezing temperatures to the underlying cells. The procedure can be done in under an hour or during one’s lunch break, so no time off work is required. Men can return to work or their busy, active lifestyle immediately following their CoolSculpting session. Since the body naturally absorbs the fat over a period of eight to twelve weeks, people won’t question or even realize that you received any treatment and results will appear natural. CoolSculpting studies have shown up to a 25% fat reduction in successfully treated patients. Exercise and healthy eating is recommended to help patients maintain long-lasting results.

Khloe Kardashian uses CoolSculpting!

Khloe Kardashian uses CoolSculpting!  69459-khloeprocedures.jpg.660x0_q80_crop-scale_upscale

Living in the public eye, Khloé has to deal with the backlash that comes with the change, which means stories that are flooded with tales of plastic surgery. “People say I’ve had my butt done or I’ve had liposuction. When I hear that I have fake body parts it frustrates me, but I also take it as a compliment. I bust my ass every day, so I get annoyed when people say I’ve had liposuction and my hard work gets discredited. Yet
on the other hand, I take it as
a compliment because it’s like
I look that good that my butt looks fake,” she says.

In fact, the self-proclaimed Botox virgin says she doesn’t have an issue with plastic surgery or fillers for that matter. “I haven’t done Botox or anything like that yet, but I have no problem doing it. If I need filler, and when I do, because one day I will, I’m going to get it. But until then, I’ll do whatever I can to prevent wrinkles and aging.”

To preserve her looks, Khloé’s anti-aging routine weighs heavy in the facial oil department. “I’m like a creature of habit; I like what I like. I know that oils seem really heavy for your face, but they’re not. I noticed such a change in my skin and its elasticity, especially on my forehead.”

One beauty treatment she perks up about is lasers. “I love lasers and I do a ton of them on my face; I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. I do them more for discoloration, but they do tighten, too. I’ve also done CoolSculpting and treatments for the stretch marks on my butt. I’m a huge fan of lasers and I love them.”

Mariah Carey Slims Down with CoolSculpting

Mariah Carey Slims Down with CoolSculpting  mariah blog

The ever-radiant Mariah Carey was all smiles at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and for good reason.  The superstar debuted a brand new body! But how did the mother of 4 year old twins lose so much weight so quickly?  “The conventional way of course,” the Carey insider says.  “Dieting and CoolSculpting!”

Mariah Carey looked like a glowing holiday queen at this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.  The songstress, who performed at the annual event, wore a flowing red gown that showed off her fabulous curves – and what appears to be a noticeably slimmer figure. “From the photos and from everything I’ve been following, she definitely has lost a significant amount of weight,” says Stephen Davis, MD, board-certified plastic surgeon.

So how did she do it?  Sources say CoolSculpting, a trademarked term for cryolipolysis (cold-assisted fat breakdown), is rising in popularity as a way to reduce fat without surgery.  The cosmetic procedure uses a special device to freeze a specific area of the body, killing the fat cells but leaving other tissue unharmed. And here’s the crazy thing:  “It actually works,” says weight loss expert Charlie Seltzer, MD, an obesity specialist in Pennsylvania.

A 2014 study in the journal Clinical, Cosmetic, and Investigational Dermatology concluded that “cryolipolysis is considered to be both safe and effective.”  It actually freezes the fat, causing an average reduction of 25% of the thickness of fat after one one-hour session with no scars or surgery.  This procedure is scientifically proven to work, and is used for all parts of the body, including the tummy, arms, love handles, back fat, man boobs, inner and outer thighs, and double chin.

The FDA first approved the device in 2010.   “It’s basically a suction applicator that pulls an area of fat inside the cup when you turn it on.  Once inside the applicator, the area gets super-cold.  For the first five minutes it feels like someone is pinching you and then it becomes numb.  In about an hour, the fat cells that have been sucked in become like a frozen stick of butter.  The area is massaged for two minutes to break up the fat cells and dissolve the stick of butter.

Why doesn’t the skin freeze and die, too?  Fat deposits are vascularized differently from skin and other surrounding tissues, which protects the skin but not the fat cells.

The treated fat cells are necrotized (that is, they die off), and the body eliminates the waste naturally over a period of weeks.  Within two weeks, the area might not look as full as it used to, and within four weeks, it will be “markedly changed.“

“The new photos of Mariah Carey on Thanksgiving suggest that she has lost at least 45 pounds in two months, “ says celebrity trainer, Charlene Ciardiello.  “She looks incredible.”
